The Chiist Mahadum

 

“Do you want to learn, but at the same time be true to your culture?” The Chiist Mahadum is the brainchild of the founder of Chiism / Godianism, Ogbaja Ahanyi K.O.K Onyioha who has since joined the ancestors. While he was alive, he saw it his duty to speak ad nauseum about the need for Africans to create their own educational institutions. He started the Godian academy in his birthplace Nkporo in the Niger Delta, with the objective of bringing the world to its shores of to learn about African traditional belief system, their medical system, cultural and economic systems of doing things.


He felt that the world so far has refused to showcase in any meaningful way, the way of life and culture of Africa but instead brought their own mission and disinformation that unfortunately has excluded African Genius. His most frustrating aspect of this knowledge is that Africans are perhaps the ones who are most engaged in the rejection of African education, African way of life, African language, African spirituality.


All those he considered to be a detriment to the longevity of the African world.


He believed that one who does not know himself or herself will be lost in the cultural vineyards of other people's cultures unless the ship is steered in the right direction, so that the Black world ceases to be subjugated and relegated to the background.


He commissioned the writing of the African spiritual book the Holy Nkomii as an omnibus of his insight into the world from the perspective of African spiritual School of thought. This book would permit the readers to use the information acquired to see the world from a perspective of pure wonderment, and majesty, a world where everybody matters, and where nature plays a very substantial role in the well-being of all humans. He did not seek to create a Holy Book that would in any way claim to host exclusive truth, but one that is full of the pragmatic expressions of spiritual wealth from the African Spiritual elders and Dibias that walked him through the
tenets of spiritual living. The book aids in the synchronization of the relationship between ChinEke, Nature, the Ancestors and humanity.


Ahanyi’s parents encouraged their children to appreciate our African culture as the tool they used to mold his sense of belonging and self-esteem in the form of his African spirituality. He was taught that he was not inferior to anyone. He learned that the way to respect his fellowman is not to seek his or her way but to appreciate his own ancestral gifts and relate from a position of strength, while according to other human beings their right to be as they are dully created.


Vision of Chiism/Godianism

 

Chiist Mahadum (University) is a product of the Vision of Chiism/Godianism, and the Chiist higher learning Commission which is the educational commission in our constitution responsible for building institutions of higher learning to aid in the reconditioning of the African people to see themselves as the instruments for change in their communities, as well as the opportunity to present African spiritual values to the world for posterity, with prescribed tenet  of Chiist philosophy and principles at its core.


The mission of Chiist University is to accentuate key elements of African-centered thought that promote the fundamental goodness of people, recognizing the importance of family and community, encouraging individual and collective functioning, understanding the role and  significance of spirituality, and recognizing the critical ways that people are.


The Chiist higher learning commission is staffed with Dibia (Ph. D holders), and heads of the
different colleges that make up the University areas.


The Degrees are called Omuma Nge for BA, Omuma Abuo, for Masters, and Dibia for Ph.D. which all stand for knowledge of self in the areas of interest and focus on the perspective levels.


Our goal

 

Our goal is to create African Self-Identity, a sense of belonging and responsibility for the improvements of African communities worldwide. Our African-centered scholars and educators provide a framework for the reconstruction of African cultures and identities around the best morals, values, and cultural practices that both traditional and contemporary African societies have to offer. The first batch of graduates will get an opportunity to have their ceremony held in Nigeria when we will have the whole community come out and celebrate their
graduation in a very ceremonial and colorful way.

History
 

In 2015, Dr. Uwa Onyioha Osimiri, a Ph.D graduate of Natural Theology, university professor in organizational management , Ph.D candidate in Clinical Psychology at Walden University in Minneapolis USA and business entrepreneur, noted the gap in educational framework used to educate Africans did not contain a curriculum with the cultural dictates that would move African students from a perpetual state of inertia and stewards of imperialistic academic models in Africa, to a level of global competitiveness. Recognizing the increased awareness in African culture as a unique cauldron from which academic excellence can gyrate, and the technological benefits of the internet, she saw an opportunity—and seized it—to cater to African students with an intense sense of cultural awareness and working adults seeking higher relevant education from a broader educational framework. In consultation with Dibia Ochuaja, Udemezue Kama Onyioha, co-founder, and Chiist Mahadum Online web developer, Dr. Uwa became founder and Chancellor of Chiist Mahadum designed to close this academic void.  Additional, members of the Board of regents were incorporated. Chiist Mahadum is incorporated in the State of Georgia as part of the Chiist Higher learning Corporation.

 

Now we are a premier global private university, offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs in African Studies, Chiist Studies, Critical Thinking in Leadership, Natural Theology, and Liguistics (Igbo language). Our Mahadum is driven by innovation in education, and utilizes many conveniences that students need— evening classes, variable scheduling, constant enrollment, a student-friendly and centered environment, online classes, a digital library and computer simulations of scenarios. The foundational principles of the Mahadum stems from the dictates of African culture, which reminds the student that every human being has worth but to demonstrate it requires acute self awareness, personal validation through hard work, high moral quality, peace and love, which is within the personal ability of every African at home or in Diaspora. Developing pride in their cultural heritage and embracing an ability to become critical global thinkers upon which to reenact Africa’s glorious past in the present and future will benefit a new generation of African leadership and the ultimate goal of African centered education.
